Carmel, California (February 23, 2010) – The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, taking place on May 8, 2010, at Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel, California, has announced that the world’s fastest electric motorcycle, reaching 166 mph, will join the exceptional display of fine motorcycles. This year, the gathering will pay tribute to the “Significant Marques from Around the World,” showcasing the top motorcycles from the past, present and future.

Additional key motorcycles on display, amongst many others include a meticulously restored 1974 Ducati 750 SS, the last new bike of its kind sold in the United States; 1949 Vincent Black Lighting, one of only 30 motorcycles ever built and a 1937 Harley-Davidson 61ci Overhead valve V-Twin, also known as the “Knucklehead,” one of the most handsome and readily recognizable motorcycles of all time. The Quail has also added a 1975-1977 Honda GL 1000 feature display.

Building on the success of its sister automotive event, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the daylong celebration will offer guests an unmatched opportunity to compare the aesthetics and engineering of the world’s rarest pre-war and post-war sports and racing bikes in a picturesque Carmel Valley setting.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our second Quail Motorcycle Gathering,” said Courtney Porras, Signature Events Director at Quail Lodge. “We have always highlighted motorcycles at our premier automobile event in August, but with so many incredible bikes in the world, it was time to create an entirely separate event that solely focused on the art of the motorcycle.”

In between mingling with collectors and enthusiasts, attendees will view the latest products from leading motorcycle manufacturers, dealerships, accessories and lifestyle vendors. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment and a delicious Southern flavor barbeque lunch highlighting the region’s best local ingredients. Attendees will have access to the Bonhams & Butterfields auction of rare motorcycles and memorabilia, which includes a collection of intimate portraits of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman from their Long Way Down motorcycle documentary.
